From the research I've done, most decal companies sell unlaminated decals & require lots of mod podge.

Our decals don't require any sanding/top coat/mod podge! I have had several families test out the decals on bands without mod podge, and all of them had wonderful long term success. Of course, whether you mod podge is up to you. The decals will not scratch or fade from rubbing them on furniture, carpet, etc because they are laminated. They will literally last for years before any damage will come to the ink. The vinyl I use is an aggressive, stretchable vinyl that is meant for plastics like your helmet.
